Encouraging sustainable living

It's Not Over Til It's Over

One thing I have learned in my years is winter drops an average amount of snow every year. This year is no different than any other. We either get it early, or it comes a little at a time throughout the winter or it does like it is doing now. Dumping on us at the end of the season.

It really never matters it's the same every year and I generally don't pay much attention to weather during the winter months, because it will do what it wants and the weatherman doesn't seem to be very good at  it when they give their forecast. We have always said here, if you don't like the weather, wait ten minutes and it will change. I was just reminded of March 2001. We had 9 feet 2 inches fall in the first three weeks of the month, I know we got more because we had some smaller storms, I just quit measuring it after the three back to back Nor Eastern's went through.

This winter has been pretty mild for us, with the exception of  a couple weeks around Christmas we had temperatures well below zero. Since then it has been pretty much above freezing with some days maybe in the high 20's, along with nights below freezing.  All in all the chainsaws have been busy and now we have snow to start moving some home. Another storm is expected to come through in the middle of this week, guess I'll just keep doing what we do on the homestead and see how it turns out.

We do enjoy our winters here and appreciate being able to do what we do in all our seasons.
